Transition

Defending a play is much more important than attacking, so it's always good to cover a player while hez joining in a play.

For example, your defender made a run with the ball, so if your not involved with the play. Drop back and cover the defence. Don't leave the back empty because your gonna be prone to counter attacks.

So that's transition in defending, covering for a player.

Transition in attack, forming a triangle.

In futsal it may be hard because there's only 4 players in the pitch. In order to form a triangle, the middle man (attacking mid / centre mid) must always be in the middle of the triangle. The two defenders may join in or the forward and one defender while the other cover up.

Playing in a triangle gets you out of a sticky situation easily, therefore always play a 2-1-1 formation.

Improving your game 1

As the speed of the game changes, as a player we need to react quicker and anticipate the game. What makes Premier League players different to us are their fitness and the ability to anticipate and react quicker than normal players. After experiencing professional training in Melbourne, i have noticed all of the coaches that i've been training under, wants every young player to play one touch football.

What is one touch football? Every player is restricted to only one touch.

Benefits:- Ability to make quicker decisions
:- Always thinking
:- Teaches you to move around more

Once you've mastered one touch football, its gonna be easy passing the ball in a tight enviroment and make you a better passer.

Strikers or Pivot

"If you’re attacking, you don’t get as tired as when you’re chasing"

Pivot is a position in futsal where you play as a centre forward, always holding the ball and trying to play the ball into space for your wingers to penetrate the defence. You need not to be as tall as Peter Crouch, but its always an advantage if you are strong and be able to lean on defenders. As a striker you need to be able to get your shot on target most of the time, no point putting someone up front if he can shoot. You can be a playmaker but its gonna be tight in the middle of the pitch, because you'll be closing the space of the Defender. Therefore, stay up always and only defend on the other half of the pitch.

Important facts:
:- Stay up and defend, dont close the space of the defender
:- Try to keep your shot low and hard, body over the ball
:- Play as a target man
:- Vision fr space
:- Work on your strength to hold up the ball

Another type of striker in futsal is the (attacking midfielder / striker), you can play a little deep but dont push down until the middle of the pitch. Be a feeder, get the ball hold it and then play it to the wingers. Furthermore you will need to be defending at the top half of the pitch. Keep your shots low and hard, body over the ball.

Important facts:
:- Play a little deeper
:- Feeder
:- Defending top half

Player that you have to look up to as a Pivot are most likely Drogba, his strength and the ability to hold up the ball makes an ideal pivot, not to forget the power of his shot is a stinger. As an attacking midfielder / striker, definitely Wayne Rooney, playing deep, winning the ball and being a feeder of Berbatov.

Midfielder (Ala)

"I am a member of a team, and I rely on the team, I defer to it and sacrifice for it, because the team, not the individual, is the ultimate champion."

-Mia Hamm

Like Football, Midfielders are the link to Defenders and Strikers. In futsal, they are generally wingers. It's important to have both speed and stamina in this position because you'll be defending and attacking. It is in this position where you'll be having the ball most of the time. Therefore, don't be afraid to take on players and most importantly not too fancy. Sometimes the easiest way to beat your opponent is just a touch, no need for step overs or any flairy stunts.

For example, if your one on one with your opponent, your first touch of the ball can help you escape from your opponent. Instead of trapping the ball, push it to the space your running into and you'll be able to go past him easily with your momentum.

Another way is most defenders will have their legs wide open, do a step over wif your weaker foot and use your right foot to push the ball between his legs.

Important facts:
:- First touch to go pass your opponent
:- Not too fancy
:- Find space
:- Don't be afraid to take on players

At the same time, it's not just taking on players but finding the killer pass to your striker. In order to find the killer pass, you must link well with your striker, try to find space for the ball to be pass into, and at the same time look where your attcker is running.

For example, if you see a situation where both defenders are standing parallel together, its the best opportunity to slide the ball thru the middle for your attacker to run into. Just like how Cesc Fabregas tear up defence with his killer through balls.

Important facts:
:- Pass ball into space
:- Vision (Your head must be always up)
:- Through balls at the right time

Players that you should look up to are definately Cesc Fabregas and who else other than Cristiano Ronaldo, if you have the combination of both accurate passes and skill to beat players, your the engine of the team

Defender, Cierre, or Fixo

"If you don’t concede any goals you’ll win more games than you lose."

It's never easy playing as a defender in futsal, the speed of the game evolved so rapidly that you have only a few seconds to react, therefore in order to be a good and effective defender you have to choose the correct decisions in a short period of time.

As a defender, many will think you have to be strong, tall and physically built, but not in futsal. The main objective being a defender is to prevent opponent from scoring, or in other words "get rid of the ball!!!".

Important Facts:
:- Block shots
:- Stand up when facing ur opponent, don't commit yourself

Sometimes being a defender is not about defending, in futsal your pretty much a Defensive Midfielder or a deep-lying playmaker . The players that you have to watch are Lassana Diarra, Paul Scholes and Xabi Alonso. Being able to distribute the ball well and open space for you and your team is your second objective.

Important Facts:
:- Read the game
:- Try to open space using one two's
:- Find space (spread out)
:- Go for runs only when there's space and be sure that someone is covering you

Ways to imrpove your play:
:- First touch must be good
:- One touch football
:- Look up
:- Should be thinkin constantly who to pass to before the ball arrives
:- Read the game
